THE NEWSLETTER OF THE MONTANA HUNTER JUMPER ASSOCIATION Good spring to you all! Here’s hoping spring weather will show up soon, to go along with all the shedding that is going on around here. I have horse hair on about every piece of clothing I own. The show season is right around the corner, with the first show of the 2007 season at Rebecca Farm. The current show list and dates is available on this site here. I hope you all have your show duds clean and pressed and your show boots shiny. Year End Banquet News After much deliberation and research, it has been decided that the year end banquet for 2007 will once more be held in Butte. We attempted to find a reasonable place for the banquet in Missoula, but the prices were 2-3 times higher than in Butte. With meeting rooms alone running $450.00-$530.00 and the dinners anywhere from $22.00-$26.00, the Board decided that this was not a judicious use of MHJA monies. The banquet hall in Butte is $155.00 and there is no charge for our meeting rooms for the year end Board and General meetings. The meals this year are $14.95 per person. We looked as far north as Polson, hoping to find a more reasonable spot than Missoula. The board also made this decision based on the fact that we have extended year end awards to 6th place in each division, so there were also more awards to buy for these extra places. QUILT RAFFLE/FUNDRAISER Don’t forget about the Amish quilt that is being raffled off for MHJA. This is a hand quilted Amish quilt with approximate size of 90 x 105 -king size. There will be a picture of this quilt posted on the Website soon. The tickets are available through any board member and are priced at $1.00 or 6/$5.00. The quilt will be displayed in Missoula, Bozeman and hopefully Kalispell. The winner will be announced at the year end banquet.
POKER RIDE IN THREE FORKS The "Head for the HIlls" Poker Ride will be held on June 9th north of Three Forks, Mt. in the Horseshoe Hills. Proceeds will benefit Eagle Mount's new aquatic facility. Eagle Mount is an organization that provides recreational opportunities for people with disabilities. There will be a 12 mile and an 8 mile loop over rolling terrain that is mostly game trails and two wheel dirt roads. Prizes and a bar-b-q are included in the $15 ride fee. Show your MHJA membership card and $5 of your fee will be donated to MHJA. For information call Pat at 285-6949.
